Abstract

This study aims to determine the initial ability to write Arabic letters of students at Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Al-Ma'arif Rejang Lebong before the use of Canva-based imla' teaching materials, develop teaching materials that suit the needs of students through a sociocultural linguistic approach, and test the effectiveness of its use in improving Arabic writing skills. The research uses Research and Development (R&D) methods that focus on the process of designing, developing, validating, implementing, and evaluating educational products. The product developed is in the form of Canva-based imla' teaching materials to improve the ability of the students. The results showed that the initial ability to write Arabic letters of students was in a relatively equal condition, with an average score of 44.14 in the initial stage and 44.83 in the comparative stage. This condition is a feasible basis for testing the effectiveness of the teaching materials developed. The development of teaching materials is carried out using the ADDIE model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. In the analysis stage, it was found that the need for visual, gradual, and contextual teaching materials was found. The imla' material is then systematically compiled with Canva's design that pays attention to Arabic typography, writing direction, graphic elements, and structured exercises. The sociocultural linguistic approach is applied through the use of examples and contexts that are close to the lives of students so that the material is more relevant and easy to understand. The results of the One Way ANOVA test showed a value of F = 55.238 with a significance of p = 0.00 (p < 0.05), so that Canva-based imla' teaching materials proved effective in improving students' Arabic writing skills
