Abstract

This research aimed to find out the use of gadget in second language acquisition and the Impacts of using of gadget in second language acquisition. This research is qualitative method which presented in case study manner to describe it. The subject of this research was a child used gadget in second language acquisition. The researcher used observation and interview to obtain data that required. There are some instruments which researcher used as collecting data: observation checklist and field notes and interview guidance. In analysis data, the steps were: data managing, reading, describing, classifying and interpreting. The findings exposed the child got 4 gadget functions in second language acquisition: they are communication, social network from Whatsapp application, education from Google application, and the last entertainment function from watching video, listening to music and playing game. Gadget uses also have positive and negative impact in second language acquisition. The child got five positive impact of using gadget in second language acquisition: have better motor skills, improved cognitive skills, cause of distraction in children, more fun for kids, and educating young ones, and the child got four negative impact of using gadget in second language acquisition: Anxiety, myopic eyes problem, and social outcast.
