Abstract

ABSTRACT Annisa Olimpia, 2026: An Analysis of Students’ Difficulties in Learning English Vocabulary at MTs Bunayya Islamic School Advisor: Hadi Suhermanto, M.Pd. Co-Advisor: Melli Kusmaningrum, M.Pd. Vocabulary is an essential component of English language learning. However, many students still experience difficulties in learning vocabulary. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the difficulties experienced by seventhgrade students in learning English vocabulary and examine how classroom learning practices influenced their vocabulary learning at MTs Bunayya Islamic School. This study employed a descriptive qualitative design involving eight students and one English teacher. Data were collected through observation, semistructured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings revealed that students experienced difficulties in vocabulary meaning, form, and use. Classroom learning practices, including repeated exposure, meaningful practice, and teacher guidance, supported students' vocabulary learning. These findings indicate that effective classroom practices help reduce students' vocabulary learning difficulties. It can be concluded that students still experienced vocabulary learning difficulties despite receiving classroom support.
