Abstract

Nur Aulia Nesa Afifah : Exploring Academic Writing Strategies For OnTime Thesis Completion Among Students Of English Tadris Study Program NIM : 22551039 Advisor : Sarwo Edy, M.Pd Co-Advisor : Meli Fauziah, M.Pd This research investigated the academic writing strategies used by undergraduate students to complete their thesis on time at the English Tadris Study Program of IAIN Curup. A descriptive qualitative approach was adopted to explore the strategies used throughout the thesis-writing process. The participants were thirteen students from the 2021 cohort who had successfully completed their thesis within the expected study period. They were selected to identify the strategies employed and describe their application during the thesis-writing process. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews respons developed based on the framework of McLean, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed that students applied academic writing strategies across four main dimensions: the writing process, time management, goal setting, and the use of college resources. The findings also showed that these strategies were implemented through a variety of specific actions, including prewriting, outlining, drafting, revising, editing, managing writing schedules, setting goals, and utilizing academic support from supervisors, thesis guidelines, previous theses, and library resources. Additionally, the study identified two emergent strategies, namely AI-assisted writing and digital tools, as well as peer and collaborative support, which were applied flexibly based on students’ needs, supervisor feedback, deadlines, and personal conditions. The findings indicate that the application of these academic writing strategies served as valuable resources that helped students organize ideas, manage time, and maintain systematic and independent progress throughout the thesis-writing process.
