Abstract

Students whether they understood the rhetorical moves and it turned out that they themselves did not fully understand the rhetorical moves, wants to know the rhetorical moves of the English study program in the background of the research in the proposal This study use a qualitative approach because this study explores the rhetorical moves behind the popular research after the student proposal seminar researchers took 10 proposal, Document analysis is a form of qualitative research in which documents are interpreted by the researcher to give voice and meaning around an assessment topic many of the students of the English study program have not implemented rhetorical moves who are good in writing background research proposals2 almost all of the background of the student proposals do not follow the moves you can see only one proposal that follows those moves only steps 2 and 4 and finally, the researcher hopes that this research can provide benefits for students who will write research backgrounds in both proposals and theses
