Abstract

This research was conducted because there were children who had not yet developed the ability to read the Al-Quran, so it was necessary to use the iqra method, hijaiyyah letter card media. The results of the observations show that the problem of children's ability to read the Al-Quran lies in recognizing the hijaiyyah letter cards, showing the hijaiyyah letters and saying their sounds by shuffling the hijaiyyah letter cards and distinguishing the hijaiyyah letter cards. This research aims to determine children's ability to read the Al-Quran, improve their ability to read the Al-Quran using the iqra method, hijaiyyah letter card media in early childhood at Aisyiyah Kindergarten, Megang Sakti District, Musi Rawas Regency. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Here the researcher is an observer, collecting data, analyzing data, and reporting research results with the assistance of the class teacher. The results of this study show that first, the child's condition had not developed before the action was taken. This is because the method used by teachers so far involves singing during class every day before starting lessons. So the results of this method were only 7 children out of 24 who experienced temporary changes. Second, to improve the ability to read the Al-Quran by using the iqra method, hijaiyyah letter card media on animal themes and plant themes for 9 meetings per cycle consisting of 3 meetings in 3 cycles. Third, the result is that the pre-cycle gets a total average of 10% in the Not Yet Developed (BB) assessment category. In cycle I, children's reading ability increased to 19% with the Developing According to Expectations (BSH) assessment category, and in cycle II it increased to 26% with the Developing Very Well (BSB) assessment category. In this case, the hijaiyyah letter card media can improve children's Al-Quran reading skills using the iqra method at Aisyiyah Kindergarten, Megang Sakti District, Musi Rawas Regency.
