Abstract

Hellen Pratesta, NIM.19871009, Application of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) Approach in Islamic Religious Education Learning and its Implications for the development of critical thinking skills of students at SMA Negeri 1 Pasemah Air Keruh. Thesis, IAIN Curup Postgraduate Program, Islamic Religious Education Study Program (PAI), 2022. Learning is a process of developing various knowledge possessed by students which is then used as a provision in living their lives. Students are required to be able to think critically and be able to apply the knowledge that has been obtained in the classroom and then represented in real life. Through the CTL approach students are required to be able to think critically in solving each problem. In PAI subjects, students are always faced with everything related to Allah SWT, fellow humans, and the environment. Therefore, the researcher took the initiative to apply the CTL approach to PAI subjects to develop students' critical thinking skills. In this research, the researcher uses qualitative research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were the Principal, PAI Teachers and Students. The results showed that in the application of CTL in PAI learning at SMAN 1 Pasemah Air Keruh, PAI teachers had implemented a learning innovation according to the demands of CTL by helping students learn by empowering and involving students in every activity to link the material they teach with world situations. real. In its implementation, the implementation of the CTL approach to Islamic Religious Education learning at SMAN 1 Pasemah Air Keruh, is still experiencing several obstacles, both from teachers, students, the environment as well as from the institution or government. Of the several obstacles that exist, the school is trying to overcome it by seeking to promote MGMP, training and other professional development. So that the implementation of the learning approach in PAI learning at SMAN 1 Pasemah Air Keruh can be carried out effectively, PAI teachers at SMAN 1 Pasemah Air Keruh are required to have high professionalism. The implications for the development of students' critical thinking skills since PAI learning at SMA N I Pasemah Air Keruh using the concept of using the CTL method, teaching and learning activities become more effective. Because with the CTL concept it directs students' reasoning to express their opinions and students will be able to awaken their independence and confidence.
