Abstract

Lebong Regency is a rice granary area for Bengkulu Province. Rice is a commodity for which zakat must be issued. However, in practice, the population in Lebong Regency, especially in Amen District, has not met the zakat expenditure standards outlined by Shari'ah. Where the nishab and asnaf zakat have not become an important part in the expenditure of zakat in the community of Amen District, Lebong Regency. This research is a qualitative research that aims to find out: First, how is the understanding of the community about rice zakat?, Second, how is the implementation of rice zakat in Amen District, Lebong Regency?. The data collection method used interview, observation and document techniques. The interview technique was conducted by interviewing 30 informants. The observation technique was carried out by the researcher himself by direct observation to the research site. Techniques This research document takes directly important data and documentation from the object of research in Amen District, Lebong Regency. The results of this study indicate that in general the people of Amen District, Lebong Regency know about the importance of paying zakat on rice. The implementation of rice zakat in Amen District, Lebong Regency is carried out every rice harvest season. The community gives rice zakat to relatives, neighbors, the poor, orphans, to mosques through mosque administrators, and is given to harvesters. This rice zakat is given regardless of the niṣāb and whether or not the groups who are entitled to receive zakat and the distribution of rice zakat in Amen District are not through Baznas. People in Amen Subdistrict, Lebong Regency, do not have obstacles in the implementation of rice zakat.
