Abstract

Marriage aims to form a safe family. So that marriage to a Sakinah family does not only require physical and psychological preparation but also requires social, economic, emotional and responsibility readiness. Thus, limiting the age of marriage is one of the important principles because the Marriage Law has regulated and clearly states the limitation of the age of marriage, that each prospective husband and wife must be physically and psychologically mature. However, in Padang Ulak Tanding District, there are still many phenomena of underage marriage that have an impact on household welfare. From the results of this study it can be concluded that the factors that cause underage marriage in the District of Padang Ulak Tanding are economic factors, pregnancy outside of marriage, lack of awareness of education, promiscuity, because the factor of shame is influenced by lack of parental control. So that underage marriages have a huge impact on Broken Home and domestic violence because of unstable maturity and personal integrity in resolving problems that arise.
