Abstract

This thesis focuses faced by English teachers’ in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Curup. The objective of the research is to implementation Intensive Reading technique used by teacher. Subject of the research is three teacher of English Subject. This research is qualitative which is presented in descriptive way. The technique for collecting the data were observation and deep interview. The instrument of the research was interview guidance to guide the researcher in interview. The findings of this research shows that: The steps of Intensive Reading were following; 1) Pre-reading; getting ready to read, surveying the text, making predictions and asking question, introducing key vocabulary 2) During reading; first reading, re-reading the text, looking closely at language, considering the structure of the text 3) Post-reading; summarizing and responding, thinking critically, reading-writing connections. The purpose of Intensive Reading technique were following; 1) Focusing on new language such as vocabulary and grammar 2) Focusing on idea such as themes and topics 3) Learning new skills such as making inferences and identifying main ideas. The research suggest to English teachers’ to understanding about the Intensive Reading technique, and also know the purpose and steps of Intensive Reading as technique.
