Abstract

This thesis was aimed to know students perception towards interaction based on Flanders Interaction Analysis Categorize (FIAC) theory by used teacher in English subject. This research used quantitative method which’s presented in descriptive quantitative to describe it. Subject of the research were students of XI IPA 1, XI IPS 1, XI AGAMA, and XI BAHASA. Instrument this research was used close questionnaire to get the data. To know students‟ perception towards interaction in english subject, the researcher used Flanders Interaction Analysis Categorize (FIAC) theory about interaction of teacher and students in classroom. FIAC theory are divided into two parts, teacher talk and student talk. Teacher talk are divided accepts feeling, praise or encourage, asks questions, lecture, gives direction, criticizes or justifies authority. And students talk are divided student talk-response, student talk-initiation, and silence or confusion. The result show students in IPA major has positive perception with percentage 83,9%, students in IPS major has positive perception with percentage 78,1%, students in AGAMA major has positive perception with percentage 80,8%, students in BAHASA major has positive perception with percentage 85,3%. It can be concluded that the students believes that from the teacher has built good interactions in the classroom. And then, it can also be concluded that the interaction based on FIAC is not a factor causing active or passive students in the classroom because it is evident from the results of the research that students' perceptions of the interactions built by the teacher are positive. and researchers concluded that there are other factors outside the interaction that affect student active in the classroom.
