Abstract
This thesis is focused on the student motivation based on gender in learning English. The sample are the last semester students in academic year 2015 of TBI IAIN Curup. This Research objective were to find out male and female student motivation in learning English. This research is a descriptive quantitative research which is presented in the table and analyze. The subject of the research are 31 students of the last semester in academic year 2015 consist of 12 male student and 19 female student. To collect the data, the researcher use questionnaire. To analyze the data that have gotten from questionnaire fulfilled by the students the researcher uses Scoring and Analysis. The result showed: Female students motivation is slightly higher than male student motivation based on the average or statistical formula with 38,33% of female student and 38,02% of male student. The motivation component that affected the most is Value component among Expectancy component and Affective component.
