Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that there are still many coffee farmers in Pulau Panggung Village who have poor living conditions and are classified as poor, seen from the community income data which only ranges from Rp. 1.000.000.-Rp. 2,000,000 even though they have a fairly large area of land, seen from there they are quite well off to meet the needs of their families, this study aims to find out how the work ethic of the farmers in Pulau Panggung Village is. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive type of research. Research data sourced from primary data obtained from observations and interviews and secondary data obtained from libraries, literature books and journals related to this research. From the results of this study indicate that. First, regarding the knowledge of community leaders about work ethic, more or less have known about the concept of work ethic. Where work ethic is their work spirit or pleasure with the work they have. So it can be concluded that the community understands the concept of work ethic, work, and a sense of responsibility at work. The two work ethic of coffee farmers in Pulau Panggung Village have not met the eight indicators contained in the concept of an Islamic work ethic. Indicators that have not been fully met are time, sincerity, honesty, discipline, and responsibility. In meeting the needs of their families, coffee farmers have been able to meet the needs of their families, it can be seen from the work ethic of the coffee farmers in Pulau Panggung Village that there are still many who are negligent, even though they have a fairly large plantation area, as a result, farmers have difficulties in the economy, and can only meet daily needs, namely primary needs such as clothing, food and housing. For the secondary needs of the farmers of Pulau Panggung Village there are those who fulfill them but most of these farmers have not been able to meet these needs, as well as for secondary needs.
