Abstract

ABSTRACT Muhammad Arya Nando : Exploring The Use of Chatgpt in Enhanching Students Self-learning Pronunciation NIM : 22551030 Advisor : Jumatul Hidayah, M.Pd Co-advisor : Sarwo Edy, M.Pd This research explored the role of ChatGPT in supporting students’ self-learning pronunciation and how students utilized it to improve their English pronunciation in the English Tadris Study Program at IAIN Curup. This study employed a descriptive qualitative design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The participants were fourth-semester students selected through purposive sampling. The findings showed that ChatGPT supported students’ pronunciation learning by improving pronunciation proficiency, increasing learning motivation and confidence, and developing self-regulated learning strategies. In addition, ChatGPT served as an alternative pronunciation practice partner and encouraged students to verify pronunciation using other digital resources. Students utilized ChatGPT for automated speech analysis and pronunciation feedback, instant pronunciation support, text-based clarification during voice practice, and context-based pronunciation preparation for academic and daily communication. Overall, ChatGPT functioned as an helpful AI-assisted learning tool that supported independent pronunciation practice through immediate feedback, repeated practice, self-monitoring, and reflective learning. Rather than replacing lecturers, ChatGPT complemented classroom learning by promoting learner autonomy, improving pronunciation confidence, and encouraging continuous selflearning beyond the classroom.
